Introduction
Ramadan is right around the corner, which means that for Muslims, we have to pay even more attention to what type of books we are reading. So what’s better than reading books that are fun yet you can still enjoy them guilt-free during Ramadan? Here are some of the best books to read during Ramadan.
The Holy Quran

You don’t have to purchase a new Quran, nor do you have to make reading the Quran more difficult than it is. It is easily achievable to read the Quran daily using online websites and/or apps that have the original text in Arabic, transliteration, translation, and tafsirs available. The one I frequently use is quran.com (not sponsored; I just really like the website and app.)
During the month of Ramadan, it is essential to strengthen your connection with Allah Subhana wa Ta’ala and the Quran. It’s a month when we not only abstain from food but also from sin. Let this be a reminder for you and me to grab our Quran and not neglect it any longer. If you aren’t able to read and/or comprehend Arabic, make sure to also read the translation and tafsir to better understand what you are reading.

Sometimes all you need to read is a wholesome romance book, where the main characters both have their individual lives and struggles, yet seem to keep finding one another. That is exactly what Love from A to Z is like.
The story follows two characters: Adam and Zaynab. Their worlds first collide in an airplane, where they have the most adorable meet-cute. We then follow the separate lives of the characters. Zaynab has to deal with Islamophobia, racism, prejudices, and discrimination, while Adam struggles with the loss of a loved one.
The book is one of the most adorable representations of contemporary Muslims.
We Hunt The Flame

Are you a fan of world-building, fantasy, romance, and women breaking stereotypes against them? This is exactly what We Hunt the Flame is, but then the halal version.
If you want a solid fantasy where the structure is quite similar to other fantasy books, this book may be exactly what you were looking for. It has the enemies-to-lovers trope, all the while Zafira is a badass, and Nasir is objectively an amazing love interest.
I personally would rate this book a solid 8, and that is coming from someone who prefers classic literature and poetry.
Seems like an amazing read, right?
As Long as the Lemon Tree Grows

Imagine the following: you are a young girl who has been a witness of the Syrian revolution that has turned your entire life upside down. This is what Salama had to go through in this book.
If I may speak for most readers, this book is one of the most memorable, spectacular, and well-written books that has been published in the past decade. The unexpected twists, the character development, and the emotional connection you build with the characters, all enable you to feel as if you’re living with Salama. It truly puts into perspective how privileged we really are.
I think this may have been the best literature I have read in a long time.
Final Thoughts
All in all, I would argue that during the month of Ramadan, it is most important to build your connection with Allah and the Quran. However, if you feel as if you may experience burnout by cutting out all entertainment, these may be good alternatives. These were my recommendations for books to read during Ramadan! And remember, what you can’t read during Ramadan, you shouldn’t read outside of Ramadan.
Have a fun time reading!
